24 hour no knead dutch oven bread



Good bread is getting more and more expensive. I use this recipe to reduce food costs, heat the house and lower the amount of preservatives going into our body!  It requires 24 hours but is pretty simple.

Use:

3 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon yeast
1.5 cups warm water

Stir and wait till cool.

Cover tight with glad wrap for 24 hours (overnight)

NEXT DAY

Preheat oven to 230C. Stick dutch oven in oven to warm with lid on.

Bread mix should be bubbly and sticky.  Turn out and form into a ball on kitchen bench under a sprinkle of flour. Cover with tea towel.

Rest for 30 minutes.

Put in dutch oven pot. DO NOT OIL THE POT.

Slash top of bread.

Bake bread for 30 minutes with lid on, then 10 minutes with lid off.

You can add ingredients to the bread to vary it. Garlic powder, mixed herbs, dried chives etc.
