I now own 2 books

I used to own so many books.  But then I moved twice in 15 months and I realised that books are heavy.

I also realised that books I loved so very much in the 1990’s, no longer fit me now. I have grown, and my interests and want for information on certain topics have changed too.

I spent 2018 going through my books, slowly, methodically and worked through whether, with each book, to keep it, to sell it, to give it away or to find an alternative way to keep it. I found ebooks on my iPad a good alternative for some and purchased a few books on that but ultimately I sent a bunch to charity. I also kept a few books for sentimental reasons but I haven’t listed them here because I don’t really read them, they are for my children later on. I also borrow from the local library which is free.

So now I own two books.

This will prove easy to pack and store in a tiny space.

HOW TO LIVE ON A POUND A DAY by Kath Kelly - I wish I could find this book on ebooks. An amazing journey about an English woman who reduced her living expenses in a bid to save for her brother’s wedding gift. Full of useful ideas, I tend to flip through this book every couple of months.

EXTREME EARLY RETIREMENT by Jacob Lund Fisker - So much detailed information to pour over. The founder of the FIRE movement. I use this as a reference book.

So these are my books. Next year, I may no longer want them. And that’s ok.
