A yearly supply of food cans
Whilst the majority of my food is fresh, I buy 24 food cans a year to fit my yearly food budget. I try to buy them on special by keeping a look out and buying in bulk. Whilst they are heavy, they will be easily transportable between homes.
They are:
10 cans of 800g diced tomatoes @ $1.50 each = $15
Used for Shepherd’s pie, Spaghetti bolognese, Tuscan bacon bean soup, Creamy chicken bacon pasta, Taco mix, Pearl Barley and vegetable soup, Osso Bucco and Chicken marengo.
4 cans of creamed corn @ $1.50 each = $6
Used for Chicken and sweetcorn soup and Tuna mounray.
2 cans of coconut milk @ $1.50 each = $3
Used for Chicken Curry.
2 cans of three bean mix @ $1 each = $2
Used for Tuscan bean soup.
2 cans of black beans @ $1 each = $2
Used for Mexican sweet potato wraps.
2 cans of corn kernels @ $1 each = $2
Used for Chicken and sweetcorn soup.
2 cans of 425g SAFCOL tuna in spring water @ $5.50 each = $11
Used for Tuna mournay.
Cans of condensed milk
Used for apricot balls and muesli bars.
The total approximate cost of this is $41 plus the additional cost of condensed milk.
